Expertise
Real depth, not borrowed credentials. Our of counsel attorney has been board-certified in estate planning and probate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1989.
Benckenstein & Oxford was founded in Beaumont in 1917, making it the oldest law firm in the city. We are still here, still on Phelan Boulevard, and still doing the same fundamental work the firm has always done: representing the families, landowners, and businesses of Southeast Texas in the matters that shape their lives.
We are a deliberately small firm. That is a choice, not a constraint. It means our clients work with the attorney who knows their file, not a rotation of associates, and that we can take on the kind of long-arc matters other firms do not have the patience for.

The work product matters. So does the second read. We do not put your name on documents we have not double-checked.
Most of what we do, wills, guardianships, family land, sits at hard moments in a person's life. We work accordingly.
We bill hourly. We do not take pipeline, carbon, or green-energy easement work on contingency. We will tell you up front whether the matter is worth pursuing, and we will not push you into work you do not need.
